Dear Parents,
I have decided to start a Trinity Grade 2 Communications Class with focus on Competition training for Primary 3 and 4 students. With changes in DSA taking place next year, the focus will move away from General Academics to Sports and Talent. This means that students who are strong in English but do not have a keen interest in Sports, Music or the Performing Arts need to find a talent which they can excel in. As more schools are offering the Communication domain as an option, I feel that there is a need to start a class on Speech Competition training as an addition to the International Certification in Communication Skills Grade 2. Competition training must start at the Primary 3/4 levels as primary schools start to select students for Speech, Debate and Story telling competitions from Primary 3. As the focus will be on preparing students for competition, it is recommended that students who sign up for this class be verbal and competitive in nature. For those students who are shy and needs a confidence booster, we have the LAMDA programme which will cater to the needs of these students.
Students in this special class will be groom to attain High Distinction in the Trinity Communications Exam with the aim of winning the High Achiever Award from Trinity College London. They will also be encouraged to participate in SPAF 2017 either in the public speaking or Impromptu Category of the competition. Students should also try to represent their schools in Storytelling, Debate and Speech Competitions. If your child is keen to horn their speech competition skills, you may want to consider sending them for this programme. I will be accepting only 9 students in this pilot programme.
